XFYD held a five-day Chess Camp for twenty students at the Holy Family Catholic Church!
Our teachers Darsh Maheshwari, Emmanuel Wu, Adithya Anand, and Benjamin Tang taught students advanced positional and tactical skills. This camp uniquely provided much more time for students to play chess matches hands-on with each other with active support from teachers, who were always nearby to offer advice and clarifications. This alternate approach provides much more time for students to exercise the concepts they’ve learned, and they are able to have fun along the way!
To cap off the class on the final day, we held a 4-round chess tournament to give students a semi-professional experience playing and competing in chess. We thank all of our students for being wonderful competitors, and we congratulate our tournament winner!
These chess camps and tournaments are part of a very long-running and successful XFYD Chess Division, which has been hosting classes and tournaments for almost two years and has directly and interactively worked with almost 200 students. All for absolutely no cost, we’ve taught over ten online and in-person Chess Classes at local churches, elementary schools, libraries, and community centers. Our Chess Tournaments, hosted at a local community center, offer all our students an authentic introduction to competitive chess.
